The Stephen Mitchell Memorial Shoot was started in 2011, in memory of Stephen Mitchell who died suddenly and unexpectedly on the 9th August 2010. He was a keen shooter, and enjoyed nothing more than a day out with his dogs and gun, he also enjoyed the work side of shooting and was one of the main people behind the running of Marwood Syndicate for over 10 years.

Stephen also ran the hardware shop in Middleton-in-Teesdale known as ” J Raine & Son ” for over 25 years with his wife Christine who still runs the shop  today. He was also one of original organizer’s of Middleton Christmas Lights along with Audrey Docherty. Stephen would always help out with anything that would improve the village and always had a lovely display of hanging baskets around the shop front. He will be a big miss to the village, the memorial shoot is our way for every one who new him to celebrate his life with us and make some money to give back to the local community.
